About
Eric is a composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and teacher originally from Boston, Mass. After studying under Pedro Henriques Da Silva at New York University and graduating with a degree in Theory and Composition, Eric moved out to beautiful Portland, Oregon and began working under mentor film composer Mark Orton (Nebraska, My Old Lady, Boxtrolls, This American Life, more.) Since then, Eric has worked on and composed the music for numerous feature films, video games, documentaries and podcasts. Recent work has included Higher Ground and Concordia Studios Netflix Docuseries “Working: What We Do All Day” starring Barack Obama, Crooked Media’s “Dreamtown” which is premiering at Tribeca 2023, Jan Haaken’s new documentary “Atomic Bamboozle” and feature length film “12 Mighty Orphans” starring Luke Wilson, Robert Duvall and Martin Sheen, which alongside Mark Orton, Eric was lucky enough to record the Moscow Bowtie Orchestra for. In addition to working with ensembles, software and solo-ists, much of Eric’s unique sound is recorded and mixed out of his home studio in Portland Oregon with his ever-expanding collection of unique instruments from around the world including, but not limited to pump organ, charango, autoharp, waldzither, guitars dating back to the 1920s, banjo, Rhodes, piano, ngoni, gust, castanets, shakers, guiro, shakere, ganza, chimes, dobro, tape machines and more.
Eric also releases music of his own unique recording project Kennebec with Night Time Stories, original artist label of the legendary Late Night Tales compilation series and home to texan trio Khruangbin, Leifur James and Ash Walker. Kennebec’s second record released October 2022 featuring guest appearances from Samuel T. Herring (of Future Islands), Sudan Archives, Kalaido and Yazz Ahmed. Since, Kennebec has expanded into a live group that debuted at SXSW and has shared the stage with artists as diverse as Arooj Aftab, Kevin Morby and Joep Beving. We will be playing Public Records in Brooklyn June 27th 2023, and Vinyl and CD are available in stores throughout the US, Canada, Europe and Japan and can be purchased and streamed on any platform by clicking here.
I am interested in creating music for a wide variety of mediums and from many sources of inspiration. I love to write music for documentaries focused on creating meaningful social change, especially those with an environmental focus. I’m equally interested in composing music for creative and innovative games that may inspire a sense of adventure, a feeling of wonder and awe, and podcasts that may tell important or intriguing stories that we can learn from.
Whether it’s through recording and performing as Kennebec, creating a soundtrack for a new project or teaching, I aspire to create nourishing music that can contribute but a small part towards a better world, and those are the projects that most inspire me most to collaborate with other creatives.
